MALAYSIAN SUPER LEAGUE

Kelantan wins first Super League title

Kelantan wins first Super League title
Malaysia Cup Champions, Kelantan grabbed their first Super League title after edging Sabah 2-1 at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu, Wednesday night (6/7/11).

National striker Norshahrul Idlan Talaha scored both the goals to put Kelantan firmly on top of the 2011 Super League table with 56 points, three ahead of runners-up Terengganu four in front of reigning champions, Selangor.

Selangor were deposed as champions after a 0-0 draw with Perak while Terengganu defeated Felda United 6-2, with Abdul Hadi Yahya scoring four goals to become the league top scorer with 20 goals.
With this victory, Kelantan, who finished second last season, qualified to play in the 2012 AFC Cup.
Kelantan will bag RM500,000 while Terengganu RM300,000 at a prize-giving ceremony at Wisma FAM, Kelana Jaya on Friday.

For Kelantan, the victory help ease memories of a 1-2 loss to Terengganu in the FA Cup final at  the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil last month.

Sabah's consolation goal came from Razlan Oto from the top of the penalty box in the 77th minute.

In PAROI, Negeri Sembilan capitalised on home ground advantage to beat Perlis, who are at the wrong end of the table, 2-0 at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium with goals coming from Ahmad Fakri Saarani (36th minute) and Shahurain Abu Samah (59th minute).

In KUALA TERENGGANU, Kuala Lumpur, who are at the bottom of the table, escaped relegation after beating T-Team 3-2 at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium.

Mohd Badrul Hisyam Azmi became the darling of Kuala Lumpur when he scored a hat-trick in the fourth minute, 30th and 73rd minute (penalty kick) before the hosts narrowed the scoreline through Indra Putra Mahayuddin (33rd minute) and Shamsul Kamal Mohamad (80th minute).

The victory affirmed Kuala Lumpur's inclusion in next season's Super League.

In other matches on Wednesday, Harimau Muda A failed to stamp their authority at home when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Johor FC at the Shah Alam Stadium while Pahang lost 0-1 to Kedah at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan.
