Kean: No offers for Samba

Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean says there have been no bids lodged for highly-rated defender Chris Samba.

Reports continue to suggest that the powerful centre-half is a summer transfer target for north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.A move appeared likely at the turn of the year, as the 27-year-old announced that he was looking to leave the club in the wake of Venkys' takeoverHe was, however, talked around by Kean, who replaced Sam Allardyce as manager around that time, and penned a new long-term contract in February. With his future committed to Rovers, the club have no intention of allowing him to move and they are hoping there will be no offers put to them during the summer window."We have had no bids for Chris and we have had no bids for any other player at this stage and we would like to keep it like that," Kean said."Chris is only a couple of months into a five-year contract, so hopefully the bids don't come in and we can keep Chris as part of a defence that proved very, very solid towards the end of the season.Kean's focus at present is on readying his troops for the 2011/12 Barclays Premier League campaign and he insists his players are in good shape following a rigorous pre-season training programme."There has been no hint of any kind of flatness coming back from the first day in Austria, the lads were absolutely flying," he said."We did some great work out there, where we did three sessions a day and managed to get 16 sessions under our belt before we came home again, so it was an excellent trip and they have carried that on since they came back to the training ground."Blackburn kick off the new Barclays Premier League campaign at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on 13th August. They step up their pre-season preparations next week when they take part in the Barclays Asia Trophy meeting Aston Villa in Hong Kong on 27th July with a second match on 30th July against either Chelsea or Kitchee.
