Croatia striker Nikola Kalinic netted the winner as Blackburn Rovers began their pre-season with a 2-1 victory over Accrington at Morecambe's Globe Arena.Kalinic took advantage of a mix-up in the Stanley defence to secure the win in the 66th minute for Rovers, for whom fellow forward Junior Hoilett was forced off injured in the first half.He also played a part in Rovers' first goal as he linked up well with Keith Andrews, who made no mistake with his 15th-minute effort.Stanley, beaten in last season's League Two play-offs by Stevenage, had levelled nine minutes into the second half when trialist Kurtis Guthrie headed home a cross from Ian Craney.Then, a strong Blackburn side were held 1-1 by Morecambe, with Phil Jevons putting the hosts ahead in the 25th minute before Mauro Formica fired in a left-footed equaliser in the 73rd minute for the top-flight side.Charlie Adam scored from the spot on his first start for the club as Liverpool saw off Malaysia All-Stars 6-3.Adam was a lively presence in the opening exchanges and after 25 minutes played in Carroll, who went down in the area and earned the penalty. Adam had to take the spot-kick twice but sent the keeper the wrong way to make it 1-0.Mohammad Safiq Rahim equalised with a fine free-kick five minutes from half-time. Dalglish made 11 substitutions at the break and after 68 minutes David Ngog scored following some poor defending.The Frenchman added a second moments later as the Reds swamped their opponents. Maxi Rodriguez made it 4-1 in the 76th minute before Mohammad Safi scored twice in as many minutes to put the hosts back in contention.Maxi then scored a second of his own in the last minute as the All-Stars chased the equaliser, with Dirk Kuyt making it six deep in injury time.Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw by Hangzhou Greentown in the second match of their pre-season Asia Tour.The Gunners were off colour for the majority of the first half and could have conceded on a couple of occasions before Sebastian Vasquez put the hosts in front. They belatedly found their feet in the closing stages of the first half and equalised through Carlos Vela, with no further goals in the second half as both sides made wholesale changesFormer Chelsea defender Tal Ben Haim's own goal helped the Blues creep to a 1-0 victory against Portsmouth in what was the first chance to see Andre Villas-Boas' team in action.Having played their 3-0 midweek victory over Wycombe behind closed doors, the Blues fielded completely different line-ups in each half as the recently-appointed Portuguese boss gave all his players a chance to gain pre-season fitness at Fratton Park.Villas-Boas' side failed to get out of second gear in the first period but managed to take the lead in just the seventh minute when Ben Haim calamitously headed into his own net.Substitute goalkeeper Hilario produced a superb save to stop Luke Varney's penalty after the break to help Chelsea eke out victory on the south coast.Norwich City's preparations for their Barclays Premier League return began with an emphatic 7-0 win over Ridgeons League Premier Division side Gorleston at Emerald Park.Captain Grant Holt put the Canaries ahead in the sixth minute following a quick free-kick from Chris Martin before Zak Whitbread doubled his side`s advantage with a header from Wes Hoolahan's corner after 12 minutes.Holt added his second on the half-hour from the penalty spot after Martin was fouled and shortly afterwards Korey Smith curled in a fourth from outside the area.Simeon Jackson, who grabbed the goal at Portsmouth which clinched promotion back to the top flight, then headed in following an assist from debutant Steve Morison before half-time.Bradley Johnson, another summer signing, took just four minutes to grab his first goal for City, rifling home an excellent 20-yard effort after the break, and Aaron Wilbraham rounded off the scoring with a neat turn and finish.Tottenham Hotspur's pre-season tour of South Africa started with a 1-0 defeat as George Lebese scored a stoppage-time winner for Kaizer Chiefs at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.Both sides had their share of chances, with the hosts dominating the first half and Spurs getting back into the match after several changes at the break, but a stalemate was on the cards until the last-gasp winner.Swansea City had a mixed day after splitting their squad into two for friendlies against Welsh Premier League sides Neath and Port Talbot.In their first outing Brendan Rodgers' men lost 1-0 to Neath though a penalty from their former youngster Chris Jones, but later in the day they downed Port Talbot 3-1 in a match that saw Ferrie Bodde start his first match in over a year following a knee injury.Bodde was quickly involved, setting up Craig Beattie for the opening goal in the 11th minute, but he left the action soon after that stretching his hamstring, although the Dutchman was apparently replaced only as a precaution.Swansea made it 2-0 in the 36th minute through Angel Rangel and, after Port Talbot pulled a goal back in the 51st minute through a deflected Martin Rose strike, Kurtis March completed the scoring in the 59th minute.Wolverhampton Wanderers slipped to a 2-1 defeat at League Two Crewe at Gresty Road.Hosts Crewe took a first-half lead through Shaun Miller but Wolves looked to have snatched a draw when Republic of Ireland striker Kevin Doyle slammed in a brilliant equaliser in the 81st minute.However, Crewe produced an even better strike to take the win, Antoni Sarcevic thumping a 25-yard drive into the far top corner with five minutes left on the clock.A strong Stoke City side were held 1-1 at Newport County.Stoke fell behind on the stroke of half-time when home captain Gary Warren sent a looping header into the back of the net, but the visitors equalised late on through a Kenwyne Jones tap-in.A Manchester City XI fought back from an early deficit to defeat Altrincham 2-1.The City side, which included Craig Bellamy and Nedum Onuoha, found themselves trailing after just two minutes when Damion Reeves put Altrincham ahead from the penalty spot.However, City drew level in the 34th minute through Joan Angel Roman after he was set up by Bellamy, and they snatched the win when Kieran Trippier fired in a long-range shot just before the break.
