Swansea swoop for Moreira

Swansea City have reached an agreement to sign goalkeeper Jose Moreira from Benfica.

The Barclays Premier League newboys have been searching for a new goalkeeper since Dorus de Vries chose to leave for Wolverhampton Wanderers on a free transfer last month. They had been linked with a move for Poland international Grzegorz Sandomierski but have instead moved for Moreira, who has a solitary Portugal cap to his name. The 29-year-old is set to join for an undisclosed fee, subject to a medical. He said: "It's my dream to play in the Premier League and I am delighted to get my chance with Swansea City."I have been at Benfica for 12 years and, while it will be hard to leave, I need a new challenge in my career."I'd like to thank the Benfica supporters, who have been fantastic to me over the years, but I think they will understand my decision."
