The Belgian international initially feared it may take him some time to adapt to life in England after signing a five-year deal with Sunderland in June 2010.
But the 22-year-old former Sint-Truiden stopper has revealed his Black Cats team-mates have help him adapt quickly to life in Wearside
"Settling in was easy. I spoke a little of the language, which really helps," Mignolet said.
"I am not that far away from Belgium here - only an hour flight - and my family are quickly here too. I have been made to feel welcome by everyone at the club, from the players to the supporters.
"We have a number of foreign players who speak other languages I can speak. Everyone has been very good to me."
Mignolet fought off competitition from fellow stopper Craig Gordon to make 26 appearances for the Black Cats, including 23 in the Barclays Premier League.
