Boateng joins Bayern Munich

Jerome Boateng has completed his move to Bayern Munich from Manchester City for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old struggled to hold down a regular first-team spot since joining the club from Hamburg last summer and made just 16 appearances in the Barclays Premier League.Bayern have been long-term admirers of the player, but the major sticking point in negotiations appeared to be the transfer feeAt one stage it looked like the deal would collapse, with Boateng even flying to America for City's pre-season tour. However, an agreement was struck late last week and Boateng has since flown to Germany to undergo a medical and finalise terms on a four-year contract.A statement on City's website read: "The 22-year-old full-back or central defender was on the summer tour of North America but flew to Germany late last week to finalise terms with Bayern. Everyone at the club wishes him well for the future."
