Sunderland suffered their first defeat of pre-season as they went down 3-1 to Hannover 96 in Hamelin.The Black Cats played well in spells but were undone by two goals in three minutes just before half-time.Mohammed Abdoullaoue netted the opener nine minutes before the break and his strike was quickly followed by another from Jan Schlaudraff.Steve Bruce's side pulled a goal back through Stephane Sessegnon but the home side made sure of victory when substitute Erdal Akdari turned home a left-wing cross six minutes from the end.Queens Park Rangers won 1-0 at Plymouth Argyle thanks to a last-minute goal by Heidar Helguson.A tight contest appeared destined to finish goalless until Helguson nodded in a corner at the death.Norwich City opened their tour of Germany with a dominant 8-0 win over a couple of non-league sides in the town of Gottingen.The Canaries played 45 minutes against two local sides, Sparta and RSV, and put four goals past each of them.James Vaughan opened his account for the Barclays Premier League new boys with a seventh-minute half-volley and it was 2-0 soon after.Grant Holt set up Simeon Jackson for a third and youngster George Francomb made it 4-0 against the Sparta select with a superb 25-yard effort.RSV fared little better in their half of action, soon conceding a fifth to summer addition Steve Morison.Elliott Bennett added a sixth and the last two goals came from the head of centre-back Elliott Ward.Stoke City won 6-0 at Newcastle Town with Kenwyne Jones scoring twice. The other goals came from trialist Robert Stambolziev, Jermaine Pennant, Glenn Whelan and Jon WaltersA Manchester City XI won 4-2 at Stalybridge Celtic with two goals by Joan Roman and one apiece from Craig Bellamy and Abdisalam Ibrahim.
